It would be impossible to count the blessings God has given to us since beginning our furlough on December 7. However, not one would surpass the blessing of being able to baptize our son, Micah, and our grandson, Blake, on March 11 (Below: pic #1. )We request prayer for their spiritual development and involvement in their churches. Certainly there is no greater joy for Christian parents than to know that their children walk in the truth.
Another special family blessing was the arrival on March 8 of our daughter, Sharon, and her family from Brazil to begin their first missionary furlough. After nearly five years, we can now be together with our whole family (pic #2).
Since January Rena and I have begun visiting and reporting to our thirty-two supporting churches. It has been a joy for us to teach Sunday school, preach, tell missionary stories and give a visual presentation of our work. In Brazil I have often painted simple pictures or used object lessons to minister in camps, vacation Bible schools or similar settings. Both children and adults seem to accompany and appreciate this method of presenting God’s Word. I am available for such ministry during our furlough if it would meet a need in your camp, VBS or Christian school (pic #3).
This month a new school year has started at the Bible Institute in Brazil. Ten new students began their studies and brought the total enrollment to thirty. The school is small, but great things take place there as dedicated young Brazilians prepare for the Lord’s work in Brazil or some other country (pic #4)
Both colleagues and students from the Institute have told us that we are missed there. The feeling is mutual, but we are very glad that God has allowed us to be home at this time. There are significant spiritual and physical needs among many of our loved ones. We want to be prepared if God chooses to use us as a channel through which He will meet these needs. Pray for us.
Sincerely in Christ,
Johnny & Rena Nunley
