Dear Friends,
Ken Ham and Britt Beemer concluded in their book, Already Gone, that most teens and young adults quit attending church because they have lost confidence in the Bible. Somehow their pastors and Sunday School teachers failed to provide sufficient arguments from the Bible to defend them against the constant attacks of intellectual evolutionists who are found practically everywhere. The book prompted me to emphasize the defense of our faith for around 60 campers to whom Rena and I ministered at Springs of Life Camp in June. The messages combined with the designated theme “Standing Firm on Shaky Ground.” Most of the campers seemed to listen well and there were at least six who professed faith in Christ or made some form of personal consecration to the Lord.
In July, we attended the annual conference of Baptist Mid-Missions at the First Baptist Church of Elyria, Ohio along with about 250 other missionaries. For four days we were instructed in various seminars and were fed from the preaching of God’s Word. Rena and I also were honored with pins and certificates in recognition of 35 years of missionary service.
After the conference Rena and I led a Vacation Bible School at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC. It was interesting to note that almost all of the 35 children who attended during the week were Hispanic. We were privileged to use the Incrediworld VBS material from “Answers in Genesis” to instruct these little ones about our wonderful Creator.
After the VBS we were missionary speakers at a teen girls’ camp in Dugspur, Va. Some of these young ladies were already spiritually strong and manifested love for the Bible. It is encouraging to see that God will always reserve His “7,000” even as our society and teens quickly drift further away from Him.
Please help us pray that Satan will not be able to take away the seed that was sown in many hearts during these summer ministries. And pray also for the seed we hope to sow through a tract we just printed. It is an attempt to issue a loving warning in the ongoing homosexual debate. You may read the contents on the “News” page of our website. Contact us if you are interested in obtaining a supply for your outreach.
Sincerely in Christ,
Johnny & Rena Nunley
