Here are several photos which summarize our weekend there. An explanation is under each one.
A couple weekends ago we visited Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Christiansburg, Virginia which is Johnny's hometown. So we (especially Johnny) enjoyed seeing familiar territory, visiting old places and friends...just kind of going down memory lane once in awhile. Here are several photos which summarize our weekend there. An explanation is under each one.

We can't believe we've already been here 4 months! We have been to about 13 of our 33 supporting churches, most of those within 2 hours of here where we live in NC. In February we visited our one church in MI and last month our one and only in TN. Here are a few pics from those 2 trips.
Both November and December were busy months for us, not only because of the year-end activities at the Bible college, but also because of the preparations for our furlough and then the trip itself...and joining our family for normal Christmas activities. I'll let the following pictures do most of the talking but I've added a short explanation under each one. Questions? Do write us if you have any of those! We are in the season of babies here, both at our Vitória church and at the Bible College. Together, there are 8 babies due to be born from December to May! Last month we had a shower at church for Vanessa who will be the first of the 8 to give birth. This will be their first, as it also will be for 5 more of the above-mentioned 8 ladies. What a blessing! A couple weeks ago there was the shower for Elenice, one of the Bible college teachers. A nice social event for the dorm girls and other college teachers and staff. We love those, do we not? :) (You can see a video clip of this here on the college blogspot.) I took advantage of having all 7 of the seminary mommies present at the shower to take this photo. They are (L to R): Leiliane, Leila (they're sisters), Gleiciane, Gislene, Bárbara, Viviane and Elenice. (Had to "photoshop" Leiliane in there as she wasn't present at the moment of the photo session.) My only sadness is that we won't get to personally welcome ANY of their cute offspring unless Vanessa has hers within the next 9 days. Pray for these 8, that all will go well! That would be Vacation Bible School...except it wasn't, since it took place during the school year. On 2 weekends in October, a total of 4 days, an Escola Bíblica Infantil was held at Victory Baptist Church. Attendance wasn't as high as in past years, the most we had was 30 on the first day. But things went well, the children enjoyed it and so did all of our many helpers! The crowning touch was that 2 adolescents made professions of faith in Christ. That one positive outweighed any negatives that may have been there.
Here are several photos from those 4 days. Click on them to see the close-up and caption. In September we traveled to the small state (a tad smaller than the US state of Georgia) of Acre in far western Brazil, an air distance of about 1600 miles from where we live. This was our first time there so we were excited to get acquainted with this area! Our arrival back in Curitiba was a bit interesting. Click here to read about it on Rena's blog.
After a few years of planning, researching and writing, this tract that Johnny wrote finally came off the press! This is already being distributed (or sold at cost) to various churches and individuals. Please pray with us that the Lord will bless its message to enlighten the hearts and minds of those who read it.
Not many ministry pictures were taken during August but here are a few from the Bible college and a couple from home, in slideshow form. Three hours after we returned from trip #2 on Thursday, July 28th, I (Rena) got on the bus to head south to São José where our daughter, Sharon, and her family live and are missionaries. No problem, the adrenalin was still flowing from our other 2 trips! One of our 2 reasons for making this trip was to help David and Sharon with their Vacation Bible School which took place in the afternoons on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Johnny arrived on Saturday. A visit here would certainly not be complete without pictures of Sharon and family. That was, after all, "the other reason" for going there! Here are a few pics of them, no explanations needed. So there you have it, the last report of our 3 trips packed into 10 days. The Lord truly blessed! Now...we're gearing up for our trip to the state of Acre in September. Please pray for the plans and preparations for that. Thank you!
