(A Brown Recluse on a storage barrel.)
Greetings from Brazil,
After a pat-down and a bag-check at the airport in Charlotte, we had a comfortable overnight flight which landed us back in Brazil on December 29. Missionary colleagues picked us up and took us to our house which we found in good shape. It served as the first residence for a fine young couple of newlyweds from the Bible Institute during our furlough. After a day for rest and church services, we began opening our storage barrels and setting up house again to get back to work.

I was impressed with the clear testimonies which they gave and how each one linked his or her conversion to an individual who had presented the gospel to them.
Baptismal class.
In addition to assuming the preaching responsibilities at Victory Baptist Church while missionaries Ed & Jan Alexander finish a short furlough, I also inherited the privilege of preparing seven young people for baptism. I was impressed with the clear testimonies which they gave and how each one linked his or her conversion to an individual who had presented the gospel to them. Among those winners of souls were Bible College students, a pastor, a Sunday School teacher, an American evangelist and a mother. Pray that they will abide in God’s Word and be strong.
The grandkids and Christmas fun.
Pray for us, too, as we adjust to Brazil again after having spent a wonderful year in the States. It’s not the easiest thing in the world to say “Goodbye” to our children and their spouses, plus eight precious grandchildren and our extended family. Of course, it’s what the Lord requires of us at this time. He gives grace. He is good. It is an undeserved privilege we have to serve Him as missionaries. Thank you so much for your part in helping to make this possible. Sincerely in Christ,
Johnny & Rena Nunley

Alcohol is cheapest.
P.S. It seems that the question folks most often ask us when we are in the States
is: “What is the price of gasoline in Brazil?” (Don’t be fooled by the 2,74 on the sign).
Gasoline is sold by the liter in Brazil. At my latest currency exchange I got 2,03
Brazilian reais per dollar. Thus, each liter costs $1.34. One U.S. gallon is
equal to 3.785 liters. So, 3.785 liters X $1.34 makes the price of regular gasoline
here today at $5.07 per gallon, if I did the math correctly.
